Can you advise me? My pediatric dentist insists on giving my child a silver filling that contains mercury. I don’t want mercury in my child’s mouth, but I don’t want to leave her cavity either. Options?

I wouldn’t try to force the hand of this dentist. It’s possible he doesn’t know how to place a mercury free filling. Not all dentists can place composite/white fillings. They weren’t traditionally taught in dental schools, but that is beginnning to change. Without knowing the proper procedure, he could make things worse.
That doesn’t mean you’re stuck. My suggestion is for you to find a holistic dentist. They know how to place mercury-free fillings, as well as BPA free. If you have problems finding a pediatric holistic dentist for your child, you could look for an general dentist who practices holistic dentistry and enjoys treating children.
